 | Crash snarls Heights traffic |
A three vehicle wreck in the Heights held up traffic for about 45 minutes this afternoon.
Billings Police responded to the collision, near the intersection of Main Street and Airport Road, shortly before noon.
A pickup truck headed south on Main swerved onto the sidewalk near Lake Elmo Drive, Sgt. Dave Cardillo said in a written statement. The truck, driven by an elderly man, continued on the sidewalk for several feet and returned to the road, where it struck a southbound Suburban in the far right lane.

 | Two more sought in Missoula home invasion |
MISSOULA - Authorities are looking for two more men in connection with a violent home invasion that involved football players from the University of Montana.
Warrants for the two were issued a day after former Grizzly football player Qwenton J. Freeman pleaded guilty to two charges related to the Nov. 5 incident.
Chief Deputy Missoula County Attorney Kirsten Pabst LaCroix filed charges Friday against Donald J. Byrnes and Ronald Powell Jr.

 | Firefighting panel look at cutting costs |
A myriad of ideas are being discussed to help the state of Montana deal with the rising cost of fighting wildland fires.
"The Fire Suppression Interim Committee is looking at cost containment strategies and different concepts on how to fairly and equitably fund the fire program as well as suppress costs," said Bob Harrington, state forester.
The committee of of six state senators and six representatives was created during the 2007 Legislature's special session and was charged with studying wildland fires with an eye toward reducing suppression costs, funding firefighting and coordinating state and federal fire policies. The committee is required to have its study completed by Sept. 15 and report its recommendations and findings to the 2009 Legislature. Billings-area representatives on the committee are Sen. Gerald Pease, D-Lodge Grass, and Rep. Krayton Kerns, R-Laurel.

 | Clues sought in woman's death |
Authorities are asking for the public's help in the investigation into the death of a Glendive woman.
Susan Casey was considered missing after she was last seen April 12 in Glendive. Her body was found at about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday in the Yellowstone River in Prairie County, near Fallon.
Prairie County Sheriff Bill Klunder is asking boaters, anglers and anyone on the river between Forsyth and Glendive to be on the lookout for personal items that may help in the investigation.

 | Detectives get training for cold cases |
CODY - There's never an ideal time to kill someone, but this week would be exceptionally bad timing for would-be murderers, as Cody hosts investigators from around the state attending "homicide school."
The five-day Homicide and Cold Case Investigations Conference, held every two years by the Wyoming Investigators Association, concludes Friday.

 | Body of missing woman found in Yellowstone River |
The body of a 34-year-old Glendive woman who was reported missing on April 12 has been found in the Yellowstone River, Dawson County Sheriff Craig Anderson said Wednesday.
Susan Casey's body was found Tuesday near Fallon, about 30 miles from Glendive.
"With the discovery of Susan Casey's body, we have switched from a missing person investigation to a suspicious death investigation," Anderson said, adding he would not comment further.

 | Officers happily carry the torch for this cause |
The Flame of Hope will leave Billings on Tuesday morning on its way to the Special Olympics Summer Games in Great Falls.
Area law enforcement officials and Special Olympics athletes will start the run from the city operations center, at the corner of Midland Road and South Billings Boulevard, beginning at 6:45 a.m.
Police Sgt. Matt Brewer and Officer Tina Hoeger coordinated this leg of the run, which goes to Big Timber. Brewer said he thinks the run will take about 10 hours as representatives from various law enforcement agencies run and bike the torch along Interstate 90.

 | Church helps displaced family |
The Billings Fire Department had no new information Monday on what caused a fire that destroyed a trailer home Sunday and left five people without housing or belongings.
Deputy Fire Marshal Brett DiPasquale said the fire was still under investigation and the department was waiting to hear whether the homeowner's insurance company was going send its own investigator to the scene.
The fire destroyed a singlewide trailer owned by Julie Sherrod-Brant, who shared it with her son and his friend and her daughter and son-in-law. The house was in the Southgate Village Trailer Park at South Billings Boulevard and King Avenue East.

 | 17-year-old drove car that struck and killed girl on Poly |
Update 2:27 p.m. - Billings police today said a 17-year-old boy from Billings was the driver of a car that struck and killed a pedestrian over the weekend.
Sgt. Kevin Iffland said officers continue to investigate the death of 17-year-old Kassandra Thompson-Christopherson, who died Sunday after being struck while crossing Poly Drive late Saturday night. Iffland said there were five passengers in the car that struck the girl near the intersection of Louise Lane, just west of the Poly Food Store.
No citations have been issued and police are not releasing the name of the driver. Iffland said investigators do not believe that alcohol was a factor for the teen driver.

 | Great Falls mill damaged by fire |
GREAT FALLS - Firefighters in Great Falls report extensive damage to Montana Specialty Mills in a fire that broke out about 1 a.m. Monday.
According to crews at the scene, the fire at the oilseed processing plant was contained by 7 a.m. and firefighters continued mop-up work, which was expected to take all day.
Several area departments responded and about 30 firefighters were at the scene.
